Yellow Goatfish
Yellow Goatfish (Parupeneus cyclostoma)
The Yellow Goatfish, also known as the Yellowsaddle Goatfish or Goldsaddle Goatfish, is striking for its solid golden-yellow coloration from head to tail. Though relatively new to the aquarium hobby, it is quickly gaining popularity. If you’re looking to add something exceptional to your tank, the Yellow Goatfish is a fantastic choice. These robust fish bring lively activity to the aquarium as they energetically patrol the sand bed in search of food, making them a unique and engaging addition.
For best results, provide an established aquarium of at least 180 gallons with ample swimming space and rockwork featuring several hiding spots. A moderate layer of substrate is essential, as young Yellow Goatfish will sift through the sand for invertebrates. As they grow, they may feed on small crustaceans, fish, and worms. Goatfish generally prefer to be housed with less aggressive tank mates.
Feed the Yellow Goatfish a varied diet of meaty foods. Due to their high metabolism, they should be fed four to five times daily.
