Yasha Shrimp Goby
Yasha Shrimp Goby (Stonogobiops yasha)
The Yasha White Ray Shrimp Goby, also known as the Yasha Haze Goby or Clown Shrimp Goby, is a distinctive and eye-catching fish that’s relatively rare in the aquarium hobby. Its vibrant red and white striped body, large dorsal fin, and black patch under the jaw make it stand out among gobies. The bright yellow opaque dorsal, anal, and caudal fins add to its appeal. This goby can form symbiotic relationships with various species of pistol shrimp, providing vigilance while the shrimp digs a shared burrow. This species thrives in aquariums of 10 gallons or larger with ample hiding spots. A tight-fitting lid is essential to prevent escape, as the goby may jump. The Yasha White Ray Shrimp Goby is peaceful and can be kept alone or in small groups. It is well-suited for reef tanks with compatible tankmates and should ideally be introduced as the first bottom-dwelling goby to establish its territory before other gobies are added.
