Striped Dottyback
Striped Dottyback (Pseudochromis sankeyi)
The Striped Dottyback, also known as Sankey’s Dottyback, is a striking fish featuring black and white stripes. Its dorsal fin and the edges of the caudal fin are transparent, adding to its unique appearance. Once considered rare in home aquariums, these fish are now more readily available thanks to successful captive breeding efforts. For optimal care, a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of hiding spots is recommended. The Striped Dottyback is known to prey on pests like bristleworms, making it an excellent choice for reef aquariums. If you plan to keep more than one Dottyback, it’s important to introduce them simultaneously and ensure there are ample hiding places within the rockwork. Captive-bred Pseudochromis are exceptionally hardy, making them a great addition for both novice and experienced aquarists alike. Feeding should consist of a varied diet tailored to carnivores. In a reef aquarium, it’s advisable to feed the Captive-Bred Striped Dottyback once daily. Approximate Purchase Size: 1″ to 2-1/2″.
