Scopas Tang
Scopas Tang (Zebrasoma scopas)
The Scopas Tang, also known as the Brown Scopas Tang, features a striking color gradient: yellow on the dorsal side and brown on the ventral side, darkening from front to back. Its body is adorned with fine, intricate light blue markings, while the tail is a solid brown. Juveniles are particularly eye-catching, sporting larger dorsal and anal fins and a slightly purplish hue. A minimum tank size of 125 gallons is essential to provide ample swimming space. The Scopas Tang can be aggressive toward its own species and other tangs, making it best to keep only one per tank.
While Scopas Tangs will consume meaty foods alongside other fish, it’s crucial to provide a diet rich in marine-based seaweed and algae. This helps strengthen their immune system, reduce aggression, and enhance overall health. Offer dried seaweed tied to a rock or use a veggie clip, feeding them at least three times a week. Recommended products include Sea Veggies, Seaweed Salad, and Ocean Nutrition, all of which are user-friendly.
