Multicolor Angelfish
Multicolor Angelfish (Centropyge multicolor)
The Multicolor Angelfish, also recognized as the Pastel Pygmy Angelfish or Many-colored Angelfish, displays a pale peach-orange to yellow hue with distinctive features. Black speckles behind the eyes stand out against a blue background, while the dorsal and anal fins sport a blue-black color, and the caudal fin is distinctly yellow. Adding to its vibrant palette, a horizontal swatch of silvery-white extends from mid-body to the caudal fin.
For optimal care, the Multicolor Angelfish requires a minimum of a 70-gallon tank with ample hiding places and live rock for grazing on microalgae. It thrives in subdued lighting, suitable for its deep-water swimming habits. Caution is advised in reef aquariums, as it may nip at fleshy stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. Additionally, it is sensitive to copper-based medications.
Provide a diverse diet for the Multicolor Angelfish, including Spirulina, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other premium meaty items.
