Griffis Angelfish
Griffis Angelfish (Apolemichthys griffisi)
The Griffis Angelfish is a unique discovery from a few locations in the Central Pacific ocean, known for its stunning appearance and reaching a maximum size of 10 inches. In its juvenile stage, the body is white with a black stripe on the upper half, gradually darkening as it matures, forming a white stripe. Adapting readily to aquarium life, it thrives in a minimum 100-gallon tank with ample hiding spots and live rock for grazing. Although territorial once established, it is considered one of the safer large Angels for reef aquariums, showing no aggression towards sessile invertebrates.
As a hermaphroditic species, distinguishing between males and females is challenging. Like other angelfish, its diet should include Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysis or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items.
