Chinstrap Jawfish
Chinstrap Jawfish (Opistognathus sp 6)
The Chinstrap Jawfish is a recently identified species poised to add vibrant activity and entertainment to your aquarium. This Jawfish stands out with its distinctive, coarser mottling and decorative snowflake-like white spots. It also features a prominent ocellus at the front of the dorsal fin and a unique ocular band that extends to its chin, which is how it got its name. For optimal care, house the Chinstrap Jawfish in a 30-gallon or larger aquarium with peaceful tank mates. Provide at least 3 to 4 inches of mixed substrate for burrowing, along with broken coral branches, clam or snail shells, and various rubble pieces for den-building. Jawfish are territorial and should be kept either as a single specimen or as a mated pair.
