Yellow Hawkfish
Yellow Hawkfish (Paracirrhites xanthus)
The Yellow Hawkfish, is an exceptionally rare species closely related to the Arc Eye Hawkfish. It was only formally described in 1997 by Baensch and Debelius. This species should not be confused with the Golden Hawkfish from the Western Pacific, which has a much deeper body and is more commonly imported. Tropical Fish Emporium in Hawaii kindly shared these images of a stunning Yellow Hawkfish with an impeccable profile.
The Yellow Hawkfish is found exclusively in the Eastern Central Pacific Ocean, including Polynesia, Tuamoto, and the Carolines.
