Cuban Hogfish
Cuban Hogfish (Bodianus pulchellus)
The Cuban Hogfish, also known as the Spotfin Hogfish, features a pinkish-orange head and body, with the tail and caudal portion often appearing lighter and sometimes yellowish. The intensity and distribution of these colors can vary widely among individuals.
To accommodate its swimming needs, a tank of at least 125 gallons is recommended for an adult Cuban Hogfish. This species is ideal for novice aquarists with larger tanks due to its docile nature and compatibility with most tank mates and invertebrates, although it may pose a threat to crustaceans. It is best kept with tank mates larger than a wrasse and, while it is generally non-threatening, it can be somewhat assertive during feeding times.
