Indigo Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani x sankeyi)
The Indigo Dottyback is a striking Pseudochromis hybrid, combining traits from two marine aquarium favorites. It is a cross between the Orchid Dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani) and the Striped Dottyback (Pseudochromis sankeyi). The result is a beautifully colored fish with a soothing indigo hue. At first glance, it resembles a vivid color morph of the Orchid Dottyback, but closer inspection reveals subtle traits of the Striped Dottyback, including a dark stripe along its ventral side. The Indigo Dottyback in an established saltwater aquarium of at least 30 gallons, with ample live rock to create crevices and caves for exploration and shelter. Although it is best housed singly or with very few other Dottybacks due to territorial behavior, the Indigo Dottyback is generally mild-mannered and poses minimal risk to crustaceans and ornamental shrimp, making it a great addition to reef aquariums.
The Indigo Dottyback thrives on a diet of meaty foods, including vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, mysis shrimp, and other prepared frozen foods.
