Mertensii Butterflyfish
Mertensii Butterflyfish (Chaetodon mertensii)
The Mertensii Butterflyfish, also known as the Orangetail Butterflyfish or Crowned Pearlyscale Butterflyfish, features a blue-silver coloration with black margins on its body scales, creating a crisscross pattern and pearly sheen. Its posterior is mostly orange, and it has a silver-edged black stripe running through its eye.
This fish can thrive in a 120-gallon or larger aquarium that is well-maintained and relatively peaceful. It can coexist with other Butterflyfish if they are introduced to the tank simultaneously. However, the Mertensii Butterflyfish is not considered reef-safe.
The diet of the Mertensii Butterflyfish should include a variety of meaty preparations.
