Rock Beauty Angelfish
Rock Beauty (Holacanthus tricolor)
As an adult, the Rock Beauty Angelfish displays a predominantly black back half, while the head, front portion of the body, and caudal fin shine in bright yellow with striking sapphire-blue accents in the eyes. Juveniles start with a mostly yellow body, featuring a large caudal black spot that gradually expands, overshadowing the yellow coloration except for the head, the area just behind it, and the caudal fin.
Maintaining the Rock Beauty Angelfish in a home aquarium poses challenges due to its specialized diet, primarily consisting of sponges. To meet its nutritional needs, the aquarium diet should include marine algae, Spirulina, finely chopped meaty items, and high-quality angelfish preparations incorporating sponges. The approximate purchase size ranges from 3-1/2″ to 4-1/2″.
